Recently, I was driving and listening to the popular Christian radio station "K-LOVE".
The station was doing a segment where a father was calling in and complaining how he struggled so much to be able to pull his kids away from the culture of the world.
That comment really grinds my gears.
I thought to myself:
Pull your kid away from the culture of the world?... That's not what Jesus did...
Jesus did not pull himself away from the culture of the world. In fact, it was the contrary!
Jesus, came fully into the world.
"The Word became flesh and made His dwelling amongst us" ~ John 1:14
Jesus made His dwelling amongst us! In the culture of the world!
Jesus was the first person to run towards the trends of the world. He ran to them and wanted to share His healing, His heart, His Truth and His Life.
That's what we must do. We can't pull ourselves away from the culture of the world. We have to go full force into the culture put ourselves into it where we can meet people who need to know Christ where they are at and be present to their situation.
We can't submit ourselves to the often and regular negativity or negative vices that the culture so commonly pushes into our lives though pop culture and the media.
We must develop a personal relationship with the Lord and empty ourselves to allow Him to come into our lives and then bring Him and His Holy Spirit through our lives to the culture of this world that we live in and allow His Spirit to lead and influence the culture you are living in st your corner of the world.
So please, don't pull yourself away from culture. That is just the Devil working in the world trying to divide and create isolation. He wants people to feel separated, divided and alone.
Don't allow the enemy to do this.
Pray and call the Holy Spirit to enter into your life and bring Jesus to the culture and to the world through your life today.
Your life and witness of living your faith may be the only "Bible" that people ever get to know or experience!
Your witness is so powerful.
We are each uniquely gifted in different ways to bring the Gospel message to the world we live in. God has a plan and a call for you and how He wants you to go forth and bring His saving life to the world.
First, He calls us to open our hearts to Him and His Holy Spirit and receive that in our lives. Then, take that to the world the way He is calling us too.
Allow the Word to become Flesh through your life and how you witness to Christ living through you.
We can truly change the world as Catholics by this, and we can truly change the culture of the world by living this Catholic life and sharing it with the world.
